I loved the concept, I loved how it’s decently original... I didn't like the execution. The movie was definitely pretty, but didn’t go at all into depth like the book.

I didn’t read the book, but at 2 hours and 6 minutes it’s overlong. That story could be told in 90 minutes. Most of the acting was wooden, at least to me. And the ending really didn’t finish the story. Also, if you’re going over 100 minutes, you’d better be telling me a story that’s important, where there are real stakes. Schindler’s List is 195 minutes long, and it needed to be.

I hated the ending...not only did it not at all follow the book, but it completely nuked the idea of restarting society.
In the book: There’s a second train, plot thickens.
In the movie: Only one train and it crashes. Yep, those two (which we are made to believe are the only survivors) are totally dead.

It wasn’t good - the movie didn’t end, it just stopped. Three credited writers and no one said - hey guys, let’s give it a third act! It’s not like they’re working with George Lucas, who everyone was apparently scared of .... I’d have said, hey George, maybe having one of the major characters in your movie should not sound like a racist character.

Agreed. Memories of a Murder is Bong Joon-ho’s masterpiece, and definately worth a watch.

Lots and lots of potential, definitely interesting to see, but I don’t need to see it again. The ending felt rushed and lazy after all the lead-up. It’s like they went “Oh shit it’s been a couple hours I guess we better end this”

I didn’t need to see it the first time. But I generally won’t shut something off. And I’m watching Camp X Ray right now and am sorely tempted.

Free on Hulu, and you can always do the free 1 week trial.

The only things I’ve just stopped watching that I can think of right now were The Devil’s Rejects, 15 minutes in, and the second Human Centipede, 5 minutes in. Usually I’m curious how terrible something can get, but both of those movies nearly made me physically ill

I will not watch the Centipede movies - I see no reason to do so although I’ll watch pretty much any horror movie, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

It’s a good place for line-drawing, they’re disgusting. I watched the first one because I lost a bet I think, and it I have no idea what it even exists, let alone sequels. Everything about it was awful, and the second one was worse within 5 minutes. I enjoy suspenseful or mysterious horror movies, ones that try and make you jump. The gratuitous ones like Saw and Final Destination are just boring.

I do not judge anyone based on their transmission or their taste in movies. There, I said it.

My tastes sometimes conflict with those of others, but some things I cannot understand. A lot of people shit all over SPECTRE, but it was every bit as Casino Royale, and included the best cold open in Bond history. Daniel Craig is (was now) closest to the Bond in the books - a hard drinking killer. A shame he won’t do the 5th one he signed for ....

It was horrible. Idiotic premise. 10/10 would never watch again.
Same goes for the latest Batman vs Superman. Just horrible.

Well, if I went out on a first date and she wanted to see the latest Adam Sandler movie because he’s her favorite actor, yeah - I might bail. Your criticism is a fair one.

I wouldn’t go as far as horrible, but it’s barely watchable - and I wouldn’t watch it again unless there was a commentary track where the director was apologizing. Batman v. Superman? I listen to a lot of movie podcasts (Comedy Film Nerds, We Hate Movies, Doug Loves Movies) and it’s been panned on all of them. I won’t give it my money, but when I can get the bluray from Netflix I’ll watch it to see where they went wrong. Man of Steel was a misstep, but I’m guessing this is worse. They say Ben Affleck did the best with what he had - Argo and Gone Girl gave him some credibility, so I’ll give him a pass. Probably.

Man of Steel is 10x better than this. Whatever you do, don't spend money on it.

Plus its on TV too much now. Showtime plays it almost every week at some time. The cable channel movie selections all seem to suck lately. I need to configure a way to keep most of my HD channels but dump all of the movie crap, every one of them.

HaHaHa, Snowpiercer was the WORST!
I wanted to like it, but it was like watching every British period piece smashed together into a train going nowhere. I even watched it more than once, because it +had+ to have some hidden relevance that might appeal to me, but it turned out to be just another psychodrama played out in a heavily class-conscious environment.
Two thumbs down.
